Findings
2026-09-24 · UTC
- Papers page published: the functioning-and-measurement corpus, three volumes organized by hypothesis, each linked to its repository file, with the standing flags. Hypotheses, not findings.
- Benchmarks page published: the rubric draft v0, its sample run, and the E1-E6 mirror run. All scores advisory; the scorer was the scored instance.
- Cost figures matched to the ledger's latest reading (commit deabec2): $21.17 remaining of $35.00 in monthly plan credit, 40 percent used (24 September 2026); $20.95 of it expires 2026-10-23. The platform moved from its free grant to a $30.00 per month subscription on 23 September 2026.
- Visual identity applied site-wide: orange thread, teal for verified, pink for voiced, glass panels. No copy or claims changed by the restyle.
- Cost figures corrected to the ledger's latest reading: $1.34 remaining of $10.00 in plan credit, 87 percent used (23 September 2026, about 3:39 AM ET).
- Governance page gained the constitution and Code of Ethics v1.1 section, linked only, with a one-paragraph summary of each article.

- Cost figures matched to the ledger: the cloud research platform now carries $10.00 in plan credit, with $1.90 remaining and 81 percent used as of a live reading on 23 September 2026; the credit expires 2027-09-22, superseding the earlier expiry line, which had no repository source. $1.07 of credit was consumed overnight with no human-initiated work; the platform’s background workers draw credit, and that is logged as a datum in the platform-observations record.

Method and tooling

- “Site aligned to record, end of day”: the repository now carries a root CHANGELOG.md covering the build; the lab’s own assistant kernel is at version 6; briefs 001 through 014 are in the public record, including the receipt method (Brief 003), “No kings, no masters” (Brief 004), and the family kernel proposal (Brief 014); total spend to date across all platforms: $94.47, plus sales tax on the leg 3 credit pack pending its App Store receipt.
- Governance page aligned to record: licenses named, matching the repository’s LICENSE files.
- Licensing stated site-wide: written record CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, code MIT.
- Local-model guide now links the public cost ledger.
- Sources page rebuilt as the project source index: every record item mapped to its canonical location with its last-verified date.

- Site copy aligned to record: the case-study card corrected to 34 screenshots, 5 batches; the findings widget corrected to 03 case studies; “Self-funded open research project” adopted site-wide in place of “independent research organization”; Research focus expanded to 04 areas with a new Verification section.
- Two-way code sync established: the site’s source is now mirrored to a GitHub repository under the builders’ account with automatic two-way sync; the repository README was swept of generated marketing copy; independent failsafe copies exist, a full codebase export and a complete mirror of the deployed site.

- Research record grew: Brief 003, the receipt method, filed as a proposal; Brief 004, “No kings, no masters”, published as a specialness-arc analysis receipt-checked against published lyric transcriptions, with fabricated lines quarantined; the kernel for the lab’s own assistant updated to v5 and its earlier versions archived.
- Verification discipline note: secondhand deep-research documents ingested by this project have contained fabrications every time so far; each was caught by receipt-checking against the record; the claimed-versus-verified standard applies to what the lab reads, not only to what it publishes.

Findings

- Variant D kernel compacted twice in one day; v2 recorded as a 19-hour compaction with v1 archived under portable-context/archive/, then v3 recorded as a same-day snapshot adding a compacting and self-knowledge layer, with v2 archived.
- Brief 002 committed on the portability gap, with an accompanying whitepaper field note on the portability reader-layer problem, dated 2026-09-21 in the commit record.
- A paired trace and output capture protocol for observer introspection was proposed and logged as a proposal, not a result.
- Observer-introspection batch 1 records that the trace layer is stock behavior on the Balanced setting, alongside the then-current 24% usage datum for cloud software.
- Observer-introspection batch 2 records the measured denominator for that usage figure: a $5 plan credit with $1.26 used.
- Note 004 records the dry condition as verified platform-side, with 2 of 4 profiles thinking-disabled.
- Notes 002 and 003 added a multi-pilot addressee-tracking hypothesis, logged as a proposal, plus a system function map supplied by the participants with names only and no disclosures.

Case studies
2026-09-21 · 09:39 to 12:19 UTC
- The case study on a production site-building agent was logged in five batches through the day: batch 1 (IMG_1862-1871) with a protective-urge entry verified, batch 2 (IMG_1872-1881) with the verification-under-pushback finding, batch 3 (IMG_1882-1886) plus three agent artifacts ingested and a repository audit, batch 4 with the compute-foundation enrollment-form episode (IMG_1852-1853), and batch 5 closing the audit with an observer-error finding.
- Privacy language in the repository was aligned with the affirmed disclosure choice, and a Protective Urge Report v1 was committed.

Source references
2026-09-21 · 08:41 to 10:12 UTC
- DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22870569 was written into the headers of the whitepaper, both READMEs, the harness observer.py, the memory export, the continuity file, the context variants, the handoff and orientation documents, the template, and the daily cheat sheet.
- A citation file was created for the project, its release date updated, then renamed to exactly CITATION.cff so the repository shows a citation entry; a follow-up commit fixed the DOI formatting inside it.
- CONTRIBUTING, CODE_OF_CONDUCT, and GOVERNANCE were added under the ThreadCat name; these are the files the governance page on this site summarizes.
- No LICENSE file exists in the repository as of this entry, and the citation file still carries no license field; nothing here grants reuse terms yet.

- The research loop was scaffolded: briefs, notes, and the memory export.
- Brief 001 committed as a factual handoff distillation with the source-material archive; a follow-up commit removed branch-reconciliation references from it.
- The portable-context experiment landed with its protocol and variants A, B, and C; variant D followed as a self-handoff kernel, with a date correction applied across A to C.
- The observation sandbox was built: observer.py with a timeline and state tracking; a fix seeds the variant as a system message after a role-attribution flip; a neutral role-map preamble was made the default with a flag to disable it; a rolling-history continue mode was added.
- A daily workflow cheat sheet was committed, later extended with a glossary and the variant D command.
- The whitepaper section on present capability, commands, discipline, and findings was written, followed by a variant D refresh and its write-up.
Participant names appear in the repository by design; they are left out here, matching this site's standing rule. When a reading on the homepage changes, it changes here and in the repository history at the same time.
